At the end of August, a dispute broke out between Glauchau's Mayor Marcus Steinhart (CDU) and one of his son's classmates - which escalated to such an extent that Steinhart physically attacked the boy: According to MDR, Steinhart slapped the youngster.
Steinhart is now threatened with legal consequences.
District Administrator Carsten Michaelis (CDU) decided to initiate disciplinary proceedings because of the incident, the Zwickau District Office announced on Monday.
The authority can impose sanctions up to a fine, it said.
In the case of more serious offenses, the procedure is conducted by the state directorate.
Meanwhile, the police continue to investigate Steinhart for assault and insult.
Steinhart has been the head of Glauchau's town hall since the beginning of August.
Steinhart apologized on Facebook for his behavior
The background to the whole thing is an incident on August 30 at a school in Waldenburg.
There, the local politician is said to have confronted and attacked one of his son's classmates.
Police are investigating for insult and assault.
Steinhart explained on Facebook at the beginning of September how the incident should have happened: Two classmates had harassed his son for months with "hardly imaginable insults and humiliation".
This put a huge mental strain on the boy.
When he confronted the main actor and confronted him with his behavior, the physical altercation ensued.
He acted as a horrified father wanting to protect his son and regrets the incident, Steinhart wrote.
