WhatsApp has a new feature.
It is a blue ring around the profile pictures.
That's behind it.
Munich - According to several media reports, WhatsApp has introduced a new function for users of the messenger service.
The blue ring around the profile pictures of your own contacts in the chat area indicates that the contact has published a new status, reports
t-online.de
.
Previously, the status messages could only be called up via a tab.
Now they are also displayed directly in the contact list.
The area can currently still be called up via the “Status” tab at the bottom left.
All currently published status updates of the contacts can be seen there.
This can also be text, images and videos.
In the future, status updates should then be accessible directly from the "Chats" tab by tapping on the contact's profile picture.
WhatsApp: Blue rings around pictures of contacts - These circles already exist on Instagram and Facebook
The new update is already known from other social networks of the WhatsApp parent company Meta such as Instagram and Facebook.
On Facebook, the circles are also blue.
Instagram uses colored rings to indicate new status updates.
Platforms that do not belong to Meta also used the display type.
For example, Snapchat users see purple circles.
However, the update is not yet available for all users.
Netzwelt.de
reports that on Twitter there are mainly reports from English-speaking countries .
Apparently, the company is gradually rolling out the change for more devices.
In German-speaking countries, only Apple users can enjoy the new function for the time being.
It is not known when the blue circles will be available to all WhatsApp users.
