Angela Lansbury is dead.
The actress was 96 years old.
The American media reported it, citing her family.
"Dame Angela Lansbury's children are sad to announce that their mother has died in her sleep at her home in Los Angeles, just five days after her 97th birthday," the family said in a statement.
Born on October 16, 1925, Lansbury fled England during the war and at the age of 17 she was already dedicating herself to musicals, while at 19 she was already under contract with MGM in Hollywood.
