Angela Lansbury in 2016: Already an Oscar nomination at the age of 19

Actress Angela Lansbury is dead. Her family said in a statement that she died at her home in Los Angeles.
The »Murder is her Hobby« star was 96 years old, on October 16 she would have been 97 years old.
Lansbury was born in Great Britain and emigrated to the USA with her mother when she was a teenager.
There she quickly made her breakthrough.
She was nominated for an Oscar for her first film role in »The House of Lady Alquist« in 1944, when she was 19 years old.
Later she also starred in the film »Ambassadors of Fear«, for which there was another of three Oscar nominations.

Lansbury was also very successful at the New York theaters: there she won six Tony Awards, for example for the musicals »Mame« (1966), »Dear World« (1969) and »Gypsy« (1975).
However, Lansbury became known to many for her role as Jessica Fletcher in the US crime series »Murder is Her Hobby«, which ran between 1984 and 1996.
The series was a success both internationally and in Germany, making Lansbury a world star.
She has won six Golden Globes in her career.
Lansbury received an honorary Oscar for lifetime achievement in 2014.
