Deutsche Bahn has presented its new timetable.
And from December 11th, this will cause many changes - especially for travelers in NRW.
Berlin/Düsseldorf – More trains, new and faster direct connections and a completely new ICE model.
With the timetable change on December 11, Deutsche Bahn promises many innovations and advantages for travelers in NRW.
The most important changes: The brand new ICE 3neo will be used for the first time in North Rhine-Westphalia.
A new high-speed route will significantly reduce travel times in long-distance traffic from NRW to southern Germany.
And: The direct connections from NRW to the North Sea, including to Sylt, are being expanded.
Change at the railway: New ICE 3neo runs for the first time in NRW from Cologne
With the ICE 3neo, Deutsche Bahn primarily wants to offer more comfort when traveling.
From December 11, the train will be used on the Cologne–Rhein/Main high-speed route, where it will reach speeds of up to 300 km/h.
The new ICE will then run several times a day between Cologne and Frankfurt and occasionally on the Cologne-Wiesbaden-Mainz and Dortmund/Cologne-Stuttgart-Munich routes.
The most important features of the new ICE train include more doors, larger luggage racks, tablet holders and coat hooks at every seat and mobile phone-transparent windows.
The new trains also offer eight bicycle parking spaces.

With the timetable changes from December 11, the new Wendlingen-Ulm high-speed route in particular will have a positive effect on travelers in NRW.
The route will go into operation on December 11 and will ensure, among other things, that the existing ICE line Dortmund/Düsseldorf-Cologne Messe/Deutz-Mannheim-Stuttgart can be extended.
In the future, the line will run hourly from Cologne directly to Ulm, Augsburg and Munich.
At the same time, the high-speed line ensures that the travel time for the Cologne-Stuttgart-Munich route is only 4:15 hours every two hours.

Change at the train: From NRW twice a day to Sylt - all year round
24RHEIN has summarized all important changes to the timetable change of the train in NRW
Those who like to travel to Sylt from NRW should also benefit from the new train timetable.
Because from December 11th there will be significantly more direct connections to the North Sea.
In future there will be two direct connections per day from Cologne to Westerland on Sylt.
Previously, there was a daily connection that was only supplemented by a second seasonally.
The trains also stop in Düsseldorf, Essen and Münster along the way.
In Baden-Württemberg, too, the timetable change means that passengers can travel directly to Austria from December,

Timetable change on the train: Tickets are more expensive
Other changes affect the cities of Wuppertal, Solingen and Hagen, which are to be better connected to northern and southern Germany.
From mid-April 2023, Bochum will have a new direct connection to Hamburg, Karlsruhe, Freiburg and Basel.
Tickets and more detailed information on the new train timetable will be available from October 12th.
But one thing is already certain: something will also change in terms of prices: long-distance and regional rail services will become more expensive.
Saver and super saver prices will remain the same, but tickets with a flexible price will in future cost around seven percent more.
