The announcement was expected by all. It's finally official: the coronation of King Charles III will take place on May 6, at Westminster Abbey in London.

"Buckingham Palace is pleased to announce that the Coronation of His Majesty the King will take place on Saturday 6th May 2023."

It was through a press release, sent to the press, that the Palace (finally) announced the news, this Tuesday, October 11.

As tradition dictates, the coronation of Charles III will take place at Westminster Abbey, London, and will be led by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

But a wind of modernity is already blowing over the British monarchy.

"The coronation will reflect the role of the monarch today and look to the future, while being rooted in long-standing tradition and pageantry," Buckingham Palace warned in its letter.

Between tradition and modernity

70 years will separate the coronation of Elizabeth II and that of her son Charles III.

Nevertheless, the course of the ceremony will probably be very similar.

Before the altar, the king will take the coronation oath, promising to pass judgments according to law and justice and to protect the Church of England.

Sitting on the coronation chair, the King Edward's Chair, Charles III will then receive the anointing of the Archbishop of Canterbury, who will give him the two royal sceptres, the orb and the cape.

Before placing the crown on his head, under the eyes of his wife, the queen consort Camilla.

The assembly will then be able to sing the famous

God Save The King

.

If the traditional aspects of the ceremony will remain unchanged, it is however expected that the new king of England will add his touch of modernity.

The

Daily Mail

claimed that Charles III would use his coronation to promote diversity in the United Kingdom.

And this, by inviting representatives of the main religious communities of the country (Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu and Buddhist).

The coronation of Charles III will in any case follow a meticulous plan, like the funeral of Elizabeth II which left nothing to chance.

Name of this operation?

“Golden Orb”.

Already underway, she must plan down to the smallest detail the religious ceremony that will see Charles III and Camilla crowned king and queen consort.
