Basic recipe: How to prepare the sunken apple pie with just a few ingredients
Preheat the oven - top/bottom heat 180 degrees Celsius, circulating air 160 degrees Celsius.
Put the butter in a bowl.
It should be soft.
If you didn't get them out of the fridge or freezer in time, you can easily reheat them in the microwave in a microwave-safe bowl.
Add the sugar and mix until fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time and add the flour, cornstarch and baking powder.
It is best to sift off the baking powder to avoid lumps forming.
Then pour the mixed dough into a baking tin that you either greased with a little butter or margarine and flour or lined with baking paper.
Peel the apples, remove the core and cut the fruit into slices that you can place on the dough.
Bake the cake batter for about 35 minutes and then remove it from the cake pan.
When the sunken apple pie has cooled a bit, you can dust it with powdered sugar and serve.
