Channel 14 is like a tiny and loud poodle, with a ridiculous haircut and tongue sticking out, unable to bite - but his barking is annoying and incessant.
Given its diminutive size, the poodle makes a lot of noise and produces useless provocations to draw attention to it.
But Channel 14 is so addicted to provocations that its people are now living in an alternative reality where Yair Lapid is an existential threat to the continuation of their boring broadcasts.
In the history of Israeli television, several struggles against the closing of channels are remembered.
In retrospect, the Broadcasting Authority, Channel 10 and the Educational Authority did not survive - despite public support in their struggle.
This is not the case with 14. Contrary to claims, there is no requirement to darken it;
On the contrary, in recent years the channel has received unprecedented regulatory benefits, legislative amendments in its favor, and turning a blind eye to non-compliance with the license conditions.
Yesterday, while the broadcast channels broke in to report on a fateful agreement between Israel and Lebanon and an attack in Samaria, on the 14th they interrupted their broadcasts in favor of a special transmitter from the center of Tel Aviv.
The real news, according to them, was in "the demonstration of the channel's employees against Lapid's petition to declare the channel an active body in the elections", as the presenter explained.
For about an hour, in a broadcast from the field, those involved provided more and more evidence to substantiate Lapid's accusations against the channel.
Public response was limited, and those present were mostly familiar faces to the channel's viewers.
The senior talents uttered dystopian slogans, but there were also those who reassured the viewers and admitted that the threats of closure were unrealistic, since it was an election spin by Lapid.
This means, the channel actually broadcast India: Lapid is using us for his campaign, so we will campaign back on him.
And so, the broadcast from the demonstration organized by the channel was devoted to attacking the Prime Minister on a variety of issues, MKs jumped to be seen, and an apparent demonstration in favor of freedom of the press turned into an election rally.

"The channel's ratings are consistently increasing because the people want the truth, and they want news," declared MK Galit Distel Atabrian, who joined the protestors. Nonsense. The people are tired of news, and the people are certainly not on Channel 14 - which has an average rating of 1.9 percent prime-time viewership, which is less than what the polls give in percentages to Ayelet Shaked. In truth, behind the provocations are hidden the real existential problems of Channel 14. A poor, homogeneous and scattered broadcast schedule, frequent changes in programs, fleeing advertisers, lack of income, layoffs of employees who do not flow with the agenda, dryness of Interesting original content, and above all a complete cancellation of the channel's identity for the purpose of turning it into a political tool.

And basically, why do we need the expensive and outdated propaganda broadcasts of the parties that will flood the television and radio from next week, or restrictions and laws that no one enforces, if they broadcast propaganda around the clock anyway?
