The blue quartet, formed by Francesco Lamon, Jonathan Milan, Manlio Moro and Filippo Ganna, closed their performance with a time of 3'48 "243, placing behind Great Britain, more than 151 thousandths (3'48" 092 ) with the best time of day.
Tonight, from 20.46, the first round: whoever wins the two matches between Italy-France and Great Britain-New Zealand will access the final for Thursday's gold.
The Azzurri are called to defend the world title.
