Is this the best steak in the world?

Preparing the perfect steak - at the level of precision and that all its parts cook uniformly - is an art that requires a great deal of skill and experience in the kitchen.

The best chefs suggest doing it with a unique cooking method that combines two well-known methods and guarantee that if you follow the instructions carefully, you too will be able to enjoy the ultimate steak.

ready?

Hungry?

That's how it works.

Their technique combines the traditional cooking method with the sous-vide cooking method (at the end you will receive an orderly instruction, don't worry).

Sous vide is a method of cooking food in a vacuum - sealed plastic bags.

With this method, put your seasoned and marinated piece of meat in a sealed bag and place it in a pot of water at a variable temperature.

The essence of the cooking technique is to cook the sealed meat in water at a relatively low temperature for more than 45 minutes.

The method ensures uniform cooking inside and out, maintaining a precise degree of doneness, efficient protein breakdown and issuing particularly soft pieces while maintaining the texture and color of the meat.

The leading chefs in the world rely on sous vide cooking, but the gadget is not cheap and if you want to cook like professional chefs - you will have to pay between 179 and 199 dollars.

Chefs even have an app that calculates the desired cooking temperature according to the thickness of the steak and the degree of doneness requested.

For example, for a steak done rare they heat the water to 129 degrees Fahrenheit (53 Celsius).

However, this cooking method was also negatively criticized by tasters who claimed that the meat lost its flavor.

The ChefSteps team of professionals, who create the "how-to" videos on YouTube, found a solution for this as well and claim that after cooking in sous vide, the meat should be seared in a pan with a lot of butter, just like in the classic method, for only a few seconds until a crust forms.

In addition, and above all, they sprinkle a generous amount of salt and pepper on the piece and put a bay leaf (or other herbs as you wish) into the sealed bag.

After 45 minutes of vacuum cooking, they transfer the prepared steak to the boiling pan with butter for half a minute or so and from there to a plate and sprinkle the cooking liquid over it.

This is how the chefs do it:

Confused?

So let's get you in order.

This is how you prepare the perfect steak in 5 simple steps:

1. Sprinkle the piece of meat with salt and pepper and add a bay leaf.

If you don't have a bay leaf, any fresh herb will do.

2. Seal the seasoned meat in a sealed bag.

3. Use a sous-vide to heat a pan or pot of water to the desired temperature (consider the thickness of the steak and the degree of doneness requested) and put the bag with the piece of meat in the pot for 45 minutes to an hour.

4. Remove and sear on both sides in a boiling pan with butter until a crust forms on each side.

Remember: you are not cooking the meat, but sealing its outer part.

30 seconds of burning and it's ready.

5. Cut into slices and serve.

enjoy your meal!
