Oxford
tops the rankings for the seventh consecutive year, Harvard University remains in second place, while Cambridge University leaps from fifth place last year to third place.
The new entry with the best result in Italy is
Humanitas University in Milan,
classified in the 201-250 range.
These are the main results of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023 (The) which includes 1,799 universities in 104 countries and regions.
The ranking judges research-intensive universities in each of their main missions: teaching (the learning environment);
research (volume, income and reputation), international perspectives (personnel, students and research);
citations (influence on research);
sector income (knowledge transfer).
The Alma Mater
University of Bologna
and the
Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa
are among the top 200 universities in The, Times World University Rankings.
The Humanitas University of Milan, on the other hand, is in the range between 201 and 250 and is the best new entry in the world in this range.
The University of Padua, the Scuola S. Anna in Pisa, La Sapienza in Rome and the San Raffaele in Milan also rank between 201 and 250.
Immediately behind is the University of Pavia (251-300).
In the same range (301-350) we find the University of Milan, the Bicocca and the Politecnico di Milano.
Between 351 and 400 the University of Brescia, Tor Vergata in Rome, the University of Verona and the Federico II of Naples are placed.
Immediately below (401-500) we find the universities of Catania, Ferrara, Florence and Bolzano, Genoa, Reggio Emilia, Pisa, Siena, Trento, Turin.
