(ANSA) - ROME, OCTOBER 13 - "What I liked about Veronesi's novel is the character I play, with a type of masculinity that is not often told in the cinema. He is a man surrounded by women, just as it happens to me, and with a masculinity that does not revolve around the obsession with sexuality. In this film there is also one thing not just: the bourgeoisie is never judged ".
This is how Pierfrancesco Favino tells his character in Francesca Archibugi's COLIBRÌ, a film inspired by the book of the same name by Sandro Veronesi (Premio Strega 2020), which tells the story of Marco Carrera (Favino) in a wavy way.
A life like many others, and extraordinary at the same time, marked by painful grief and by an absolute love, also because it is deliberately not consummated, the one that Luisa Lattes (Berénice Bejo) feels for the very beautiful Luisa Lattes.
The emotional life of Marco, who works as an ophthalmologist, is in fact quite different;
a married life in Rome together with the restless Marina (Kasia Smutniak) and her beloved daughter Adele (Benedetta Porcaroli).
A rather ordinary existence dedicated to others, to his family, and in which he will find a faithful ally in Daniele Carradori (Nanni Moretti), Marina's psychoanalyst, from whom he will part not without problems.
And all this in the name of that nickname that the protagonist has won for a twofold reason: as a boy he was very small in stature and then for the fact that, just like the hummingbird, he always used a great deal of energy in life to stay completely still. .
