(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, OCTOBER 13 - Prison for life: this is the unanimous verdict of the jury for Nikolas Cruz, the young man accused of the shooting in 2018 in the school of Parkland, Florida, in which 17 people died (14 students and 3 teachers).
It is one of the bloodiest school shootouts in US history.
Now the last word is for Judge Elizabeth Scherer, but judges generally respect the decision of the jury.
Cruz was present in the courtroom with the relatives of the victims and listened to the reading of the verdict with his head down, without particular emotions.
He was 19 when he committed the massacre.
He then escaped on foot mingling with other runaway students but was arrested an hour later.
In the trial he pleaded guilty and he asked for life imprisonment.
