(ANSA) - LONDON, OCTOBER 14 - Jeremy Hunt, 56, a veteran of various British governments and former Foreign Minister under Theresa May, is the new Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Liz Truss chose him, according to the Guardian, to try to reunify a Conservative party in revolt against her.
Hunt is considered a moderate, was BorisJohnson's number one challenger for the 2019 Tory leadership, and supported former Chancellor Rishi Sunak against Truss in the post-BoJo race.
He succeeds Kwasi Kwarteng, forced today to step aside in the wake of the storm fueled by the hyper-liberal fiscal maneuver announced in Parliament on 23/9.
