Do you need space on your smartphone?
The memory is full again.
With a few clicks of this WhatsApp feature, users can clean up their cell phones in no time.
Munich ‒ Pictures, videos and chat messages via WhatsApp arrive on cell phones every day.
Users can easily do without many of these files.
Especially when the smartphone's RAM is unnecessarily cluttered.
If you want to get rid of the memory guzzlers quickly, you can use a special feature in the messenger service.
With the function, images and small videos can be managed in a user-friendly manner.
We'll show you how it works
:
First, go to WhatsApp settings.
There you can access the menu item "Storage and data" to the item "Manage storage".
Here you will find all files listed by size.
Click on the files you want to delete.
You don't have to go through every chat history to do this.
You can click directly on the file and delete it with a click.
Your cell phone will quickly have new storage space free again.
Of course, you can also clean up each individual chat history separately and simply delete files sent within the chat.
WhatsApp feature: Enable self-deleting messages
If you want to free up even more memory, you can easily activate the “self-deleting messages” function on WhatsApp.
To do this, users have to click on the corresponding name of the contact in the "Chat" area and can now tap on "Self-deleting messages" under Media, Links and Docs and then switch them on.
The purpose of this setting is that new messages in the chat immediately disappear after seven days.
However, mobile phone users can also release memory via the settings on their smartphone.
How this works is explained in the following video.
From time to time, Android apps also help with tidying up.
However, you need a lot of access rights to do this.
