True crime has been trending for a while.

With the series "Monster - The Jeffrey Dahmer Story" the hype at Netflix has reached a new peak.

In 2014, the globally popular podcast "Serial" aired, in which reporter Sarah König followed the true case of an incarcerated man convicted of the murder of a classmate as a teenager.

Since then, the true crime genre has been booming, whether as a podcast, as a documentary, as a series, as a film, well-known and previously less well-known criminal cases are brought to the screen and to your ears everywhere.

The latest example of the boom is the series Monster - The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer, which is currently breaking all records on Netflix.

The Thing About Pam

The US series The Thing About Pam tells the story of the 2011 murder of Betsy Faria. Her husband Russ was convicted of the crime, but insisted that he did not commit the crime.

His conviction was later overturned and investigators targeted the dead man's best friend, Pam Hubb.

The suspect is portrayed in this series by Hollywood star Renee Zellweger.

In a quilted jacket and with a mega-beverage cup, she depressingly sums up the ominous behavior of the alleged girlfriend and draws us into a dark story full of abysses in front of the normal facade in middle-class America.

In Germany, the series can currently be streamed on RTL+, among others.
