A nationwide successor to the 9-euro ticket is coming.

The start is scheduled for January 2023.

But until then, the federal and state governments still have to clarify the financing.

Because there seems to be disagreement about that.

Munich – The news should cause enthusiasm for many commuters.

The 9 o'clock ticket has obviously found a successor and is expected to be sold to customers of local public transport as a 49-euro ticket from January next year.

The transport ministers of the federal states agreed on this on Thursday.

Important financing questions have not yet been finally clarified.

The only thing that is certain is that the federal government wants to provide an amount of 1.5 billion euros for the new ticket.

The states should participate in the same amount, reports the

In return, the federal states asked the federal government for a financing plan to expand public transport, especially in rural areas.

Bavaria is also sticking to the demand for more money from the federal government with a view to the 49-euro ticket.

This is the condition without which a 49-euro ticket will not come.

In these times of crisis, we need money from the federal government so that buses and trains will still be running tomorrow and don't have to be canceled because of skyrocketing energy prices.

49-euro ticket: "climate ticket" without secured financing

As has been leaked from well-informed circles, the ticket should be given the name "climate ticket".

Federal Minister of Transport Volker Wissing would prefer "Deutschlandticket", writes the

But in the end, public transport customers certainly don't care about the name.

The main thing is that the financing of the ticket is secured at the upcoming Prime Ministers' Conference in December, so that the 49-euro ticket can start in January.

Because the customers are also impatient with the topic "climate ticket".

Another Twitter user asks, slightly ironically,

The federal and state governments have at least been able to agree on this: The ticket should be offered as an annual subscription (totalling 588 euros), be available digitally and analogously and be canceled at any time.

In addition, it should be personalized and non-transferrable.
