Hit by rock landslide, climber dies in Ancona

(ANSA) - GENGA, OCTOBER 15 - During a climb to a rocky road inside the Gola di Frasassi di Genga (Ancona), in the late afternoon, a 36-year-old from Montecassiano (Macerata), an expert climber was hit by a landslide that killed him .

A flurry of stones severed the cable to which the man was attached.

Rescuers could only confirm his death.

The victim was an aspiring instructor from the Mainini mountaineering school in Macerata.

Behind him, a female climber witnessed the scene and went down to the valley to ask for help.

On site Alpine Rescue, 118, firefighters and the carabinieri of Genga and the Radiomobile.


    This morning there was also another accident, fortunately less serious, in the mountains of the Gola dellaRossa park in Genga.

Around 11 a.m., a 27-year-old from the area, was at the climbing place called "Chez Maxime", climbing with some friends.

Suddenly, for reasons to be ascertained, the young hiker fell along the rocky wall that leads to the start of the routes.

A flight of about 10 meters that caused a series of traumas and suspected fractures, as she slipped along the rocky slope.


    Reached by friends who promptly alerted the rescue.

From 118 and from the operations center, the intervention of the helicopter rescue and a ground team of the National Corps of the Alpine and Speleological Rescue of Ancona were requested to support the operations, in addition to the Carabinieri of the Fabriano Company.

The young woman is not in danger of life.
