2022-10-15T11:11:42.039Z

Marge Simpson shows solidarity with women in Iran. In Scotland, activists protest with dead fish in their mouths. And get to know Ameca - half man, half machine. These are the most gripping motifs of the week.

Pac-Man

Of course, this photo has nothing to do with the Pac-Man video game, but the moon is reminiscent of the character who collects points in a maze.

The photo was actually taken in Washington, the photographer was standing in front of the famous Washington Monument.

If you take a closer look, you can see two red dots that could also be sparkling eyes.

Fiction and reality can sometimes just play such nice tricks on you.

Angosat 1, the first satellite of the African state of Angola, was lost in space - but now Angosat-2 is coming.

The replacement satellite was launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

He is to remain in service for 15 years.

human machine

Ameca is considered one of the most advanced humanoid robots in the world.

Here it can be seen at a technology exhibition in Dubai.

Ameca can answer questions and move like a human.

As a result, some describe Ameca as the least scary human-robot.

Marge for Mahsa

Street artist AleXsandro Palombo immortalized Marge Simpson on a wall in front of the Iranian consulate in Milan.

It shows the character from the animated series »The Simpsons« with her hair cut off and her middle finger raised in solidarity with the demonstrators in Iran.

After the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in the custody of the national vice squad, Iranian women took up scissors in front of cameras to protest against state repression and violence.

blind fish

To highlight the Scottish government's "willful blindness," activists from the group Ocean Rebellion protest against salmon farming outside the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh - blindfolded and with dead fish in their mouths.

The government's handling of the coast and marine life has been described as an "ecological disaster".

The Salmon Farmers' Association stated that its members are passionate about animal welfare and the marine environment.

explosive

In the city center of the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, people pose in front of the poster of an artist collective.

The picture, designed like a postage stamp, is part of an exhibition.

The picture shows the explosions at the Crimean Bridge on the morning of October 8th.

It is still unclear who or what caused the explosions.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called it an "act of terrorism" and just a few days later he launched widespread airstrikes across Ukraine.

There was no commitment from the Ukrainian side to an attack - but triumphant comments.

In Kyiv, members of a special unit teach them how to use weapons and give lectures on grenades and mines in a training camp.

Hundreds of sailing boats have come together for this trip.

The Barcolana is the largest sailing regatta in the world.

The hustle and bustle at sea was easy to observe from Trieste, Italy.

The Barbados-flagged cargo ship is coming from Ukraine and has loaded grain that can be transported through secure corridors due to the Turkey-brokered agreement between Ukraine and Russia.

As a result, there is now a traffic jam in the port of Istanbul.

No one knows: will this dog's photo end up on Instagram or other social media?

It is conceivable.

The white animal, shown here in a park in the South Korean park, seems to be patiently waiting for the photo session to end.

Maybe the procedure is already used to it.

flooded

Cars make their way through flooded roads between Forbes and Grenfell in New South Wales, Australia.

Heavy rains have led to flooding there.

A report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) from February 2022 assumes that Australia will be hit by devastating natural events even more frequently in the future.

Stronger heat, more dangerous fires, more droughts and floods, higher sea levels and drier winters are to be expected.

mud drama

Shoes are soaked with mud, but this man won't give up: He's searching for survivors of a devastating landslide in Las Tejerias, Venezuela.

So far, 43 deaths from the landslide have been confirmed.

In the meantime, the hope of finding one of the approximately 50 missing alive is also fading.

The Kome Caves in Lesotho are among the last living caves on our planet that are still in use.

Their appearance is deceptive: they are not as old as they seem.

King Telaka of the Basia people had it converted into living quarters with mud porches in the early 19th century.

War was raging - and the living caves became retreats and shelters.

harvest time

On the Batzenberg near Pfaffenweiler near Freiburg there are vineyards with autumn colors.

In all likelihood, the wine harvest in the Baden wine-growing region will be significantly better this year than in previous years – despite the extreme drought.

The winegrowers expect around 47 percent higher volumes than in 2021.

long shadows

Cars drive through an avenue with autumnally colored trees in the morning at sunrise in the Hanover region.

The yellow foliage is an energy-saving feature of the trees.

They deposit the green pigment chlorophyll, which they need for energy production - in the root, in the trunk, in the branches.

The yellow and red pigments of the leaves then come to light.

The presentation profiles China's President Xi Jinping and the country's achievements under his leadership.

Beijing will host the 20th Congress of the long-ruling Communist Party next week, where Xi is expected to serve a third term.

A few days before the start of the congress, there was a rare protest in the capital: banners called for the fall of Xi and an end to the strict corona policy.

For some people it is dangerous nonsense, for some it is an elementary part of fan culture: pyrotechnics.

It is also officially banned in France's stadiums.

A cyclist rides over the foggy Rheinkniebrücke in Düsseldorf.

In principle, fog is nothing more than a cloud on the ground.

Countless water droplets float in the air, reflecting the light and making it difficult to see.
