Netflix will introduce a new subscription model starting in November.
It costs EUR 4.99 per month and comes with advertising.
The streaming service wants to gain new subscribers with this.
Los Gatos/Munich - Now it's official.
The new basic subscription with advertising from Netflix starts on November 3rd in Germany.
This means that customers will be able to watch the American media company's streaming service more cheaply than before.
However, they have to be prepared for a total of four to five minutes of advertising per hour.
At the start, the commercials should be 15 to 30 seconds long and run during or before the films.
The new subscription model will be introduced in twelve countries, including France, Great Britain, Spain, Mexico, Korea and the USA.

Netflix: New basic subscription without download function
A limited number of films and series will not be available for licensing reasons.
But according to the streaming service, it is being worked on.
Unlike the current models, there is no download function with this basic subscription.
The subscription can also be changed and canceled at any time, says Netflix.
With the introduction of the cheaper subscription model, the company is responding to the increasing competition on the German streaming market.
These include Disney, Amazon Prime and HBO Max. Disney has already caught up with Netflix in terms of subscription numbers.
According to their own statements, the two competitors registered a total of 221 million subscriptions at the end of June this year.
The cult series "Sherlock" can also be streamed on Netflix.

Netflix basic subscription: Response to EU Commission plans
The first examples from England and Ireland show how the current price models at Netflix could continue on the European market.
There, users are already paying significantly more for all subscription packages.
In August, consumer advice centers also warned of higher costs for consumers.
The background to this are plans by the EU Commission for market participants to share in the costs of the digital infrastructure.
A result from the commission is still pending.
Meanwhile, providers like Netflix have apparently reacted with the subscription in the basic tariff.
However, customers will have to live with regular advertisements from November.
These Netflix series will continue in 2021
