(ANSA) - TEHRAN, OCTOBER 15 - "The reaction of some Western officials is just a pretext to be used against Iran".
This is what the Foreign Minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian said, in a telephone conversation he had yesterday evening with the High Representative for EU Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, in reference to the reaction of Western countries to the harsh repression of protests in Iran for the death of MahsaAmini.
"Iran is not the country of velvet revolutions, but it is a port of stability and security because the Islamic Republic has strong support from democracy and the people," said Amirabdollahian, quoted by the IRNA agency.
"European countries should have a realistic approach to the issue as we consider a broader framework of cooperation with the European Union", he added, asking politely "why the toughest clashes in the European countries" are not described "as repression".
