A durum wheat semolina product is currently being recalled because it could contain mold.

Kassel – Soup goes perfectly with the autumn weather, but those who had planned to cook semolina dumplings as an accompaniment should be careful – because the semolina could be spoiled.
A supplier who supplies the Edeka and Rewe stores, among others, reports that mold can occur with the product "Goldpuder durum wheat semolina".
The semolina is therefore being recalled.

Recall at Rewe and Edeka: Manufacturer expresses itself
In a press release, the manufacturer Aurora Mühlen GmbH points out that it cannot be ruled out that some products may develop mold.
The product concerned can be identified by the best before date on the bottom of the packaging.
The company reports that these are only isolated suspected cases and a precautionary measure for consumer protection.
If a product is affected by mold, this can be easily recognized by a change in smell and color.
The product affected by the recall was sold in Hesse, Baden-Württemberg, Hamburg and Saarland.
A Germany-wide sale via online shops is also possible.
Semolina dumplings can be made from semolina – but a semolina product is currently being urgently recalled at Edeka and Rewe.

Eating moldy foods is dangerous to your health because they produce carcinogenic toxins called mycotoxins,

“This can cause acute symptoms of poisoning, such as vomiting and diarrhea.
Mold can also damage the liver and kidneys and affect the immune system.
Eating products that have become moldy for a long time can also be carcinogenic and mutagenic,” explains Alexandra Borchard-Becker from Verbraucher Initiative eV.

When mold does affect a product, it is usually best to throw the entire product away.
This cannot be completely killed off with either heat or cold, informs the
NDR
.
In addition, it usually reaches deeper than the point visible to humans.
The manufacturer recommends that customers of the products affected by the recall return them to their place of purchase.
There, the buyers are to be reimbursed for the purchase price, even without presenting a receipt.
There are always food recalls, as was the case recently with a popular snack from the discounter Lidl.
