It will have taken Léonie Bischoff eight years to put into images not the life as such of the sulphurous Anaïs Nin, but her years of training, those which led to her artistic blossoming, as an echo of the career of Léonie Bischoff. -same.

Using multicolored lead pencils, the designer has thus "materialized" the writer's fantasy, the sensuality of her language, the multiple facets of a personality who grew up between two continents and three languages, and for a long time felt a stranger within of a patriarchal society.

Anais Nin

describes how the diarist, married for several years to the banker Hugo Guiler, meets Henry Miller, who introduces her to sexual freedom and becomes her privileged partner in literature: far from being a simple muse, she exchanges with him as equals and they will dialogue all their life.

The imagery of this splendid maritime and floral album – between Art Nouveau and Art Deco, two very fashionable movements in Paris in the 1930s – refers to the initiatory journey of a pioneer of autofiction, erotic literature, and of polyamory, of which the three pages that we publish describe a way of culmination: after many meanders, Anaïs Nin has found her place, as a lover and as a creator.
