From Abruzzo to Rome, here is the Giro d'Italia 2023

From the great start in Abruzzo, on the Costa dei Trabocchi cycle path, to the grand finale in Rome at the Imperial Forums, the 1

06th edition of the Giro d'Italia

it will feature three timed stages, seven uphill finishes and eight stages for sprinters.

The race, scheduled from 6 to 28 May 2023, will also have an encroachment in Switzerland, where the Cima Coppi is located on the 2,469 meters of the Gran San Bernardo.

The first stage will be an individual time trial to award the Maglia Rosa.

After a quieter week, the first finish above 2,000 will be on the Gran Sasso, the Cima Pantani.

Then the group will have to face the Marche walls to reach the finish line in Fossombrone.

The second time trial will still be dedicated to specialists: 33.6 km between Savignano sul Rubicone and Cesena.

From there the Giro will be decided.

The Crans Montana alpine stage, with two ascents above 2,000 meters, will be the first test for the men of the classification.

The last week will be very busy:

Monte Bondone with peaks at 15% will skim the group;

the fraction with the arrival in Val di Zoldo will be short (160) but intense (3,700 meters in altitude);

from Longarone (60 years after the Vajont tragedy) the dolomitic stage will start with arrival at the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, a hellish hamlet with 5,400 meters of altitude difference and five roughnesses;

the last effort will be the time trial of Monte Lussari, with sections at 22%.
