    What snowboard size to choose?

The first thing to know when buying a snowboard is what size to get.

Indeed, as with skis, the length of your snowboard will depend on your size.

To find out which size to choose, take yours, for example 1.70 meters, and remove 20 to 25 centimeters from it.

This will give you a range to choose from.

In addition to size, your weight will come into play.

Depending on the latter, you will head for a plank in the high or low range.

The feet being positioned perpendicular to the snowboard, its width should also be checked.

So remember to make sure that the board will be wide enough to fit your shoe size.

The other criteria for buying the right board

Let's also see what other criteria to take into account when choosing your snowboard.

    For starters, your level.

Logically, you will not choose the same equipment if you are a beginner or an expert:

    Beginner:

you will need a flexible and tolerant board.

    It is pleasant to use and adapts to uncomfortable riders who are learning to appropriate this sport;

    Intermediate:

do you have a good command of your snowboard and are a fan of red and even black slopes?

    You need a responsive snowboard that will follow your every move;

    Confirmed:

if off-piste doesn't scare you and you never say no to a little adrenaline rush, bet on a rigid snowboard.

It will not unhook from its curve, even at full speed on hard or frozen snow.

Another point to consider is your type of practice.

As with skiing, it can vary from one snowboarder to another.

Depending on whether you prefer to stay on the slopes, or venture off the beaten path, you will not buy the same board.

So remember to check for which practice the snowboard you are interested in is suitable for.

If it is not well adapted, you risk being disappointed during its use and regretting your investment.

You will also have a wide choice regarding the design of your board, it's up to you to see according to your preferences.

Note that it is quite possible to customize the snowboard after purchase if you wish.

Finally, set a budget before you start your research.

What other equipment should I have for snowboarding?

So of course, the snowboard is essential to practice this sliding sport, but there is more equipment than that to buy.

First of all, a suitable outfit.

As with skiing, snowboarding is practiced in winter, when it is cold.

So you will need warm clothes.

Prefer technical items designed in breathable and quick-drying materials.

Bring waterproof pants, warm underwear and a fleece layer for your upper body.

    You will be well protected.

Also remember to protect your hands from the cold with a good pair of gloves.

    Under-gloves may also be useful.

If you're snowboarding when it's really cold, pack some heaters that you can use at the top of the slopes if you feel the need.

Your eyes are also particularly exposed to the mountains.

They must also be spared with ski goggles.

For optimal hold and not to risk losing them when you go down the slopes, bet on a mask instead.

It will fit better on your head and you can adjust the elastic behind your head.

It also offers better protection against the wind since it is much more covering than glasses.

To finish your outfit, add a hat or at least a head-band to prevent your head from getting cold.

Finally, you will need to put bindings on your snowboard and boots.

They must be adapted to your shoes while the latter must be your size and comfortable for a pleasant practice.
