The Toy
, Francis Veber's first film as a director.
Released in 1976, the film had not previously benefited from a video edition.
On the occasion of this restoration, Pierre Richard told us that it was one of his favorite films.
He praised his partner, Michel Bouquet, so good at playing coldness and seriousness.
He also remembered that the critics had not been kind to him.
“I got attacked badly.
To reassure me, my agent told me:
“The guy who rides a bike and gets a tomato, it hurts.
But the guy who drives a Porsche at 300 km/h and gets a tomato, he doesn't give a damn.

comes out in theaters today.
It is accompanied by the
New Toy
, directed by James Huth (
Brice de Nice
).
This is not the first remake of Veber's version - the American Richard Donner did it in 1982. The plot is essentially the same.
