The "Blue Panther - TV and Streaming Award", as the Bavarian television award is now known, was presented in Munich on Wednesday evening.

Was the completely renewed gala convincing?

Markus Söder knew what he was talking about - after all, the Bavarian Prime Minister himself had been properly put through the wringer by Markus Lanz.

The presentation of the honorary award to the ZDF talker on Wednesday evening (October 19, 2022) at the "Blue Panther - TV and Streaming Award" (formerly the Bavarian TV Award) in Munich's BMW World could definitely be seen as a very personal recognition of a former - and certainly understand future guests too.

With his show, the 53-year-old native of South Tyrol brings the audience closer to complex debates and topics in an understandable and entertaining way, according to Söder.

He praised the meticulous preparation with which Lanz approached his talks.

And: "He is never offended and never insulting." He is also impressed by the persistence with which Lanz not only asks his questions,

but which he also proved in his career.

Keyword "Wetten, dass..?".

That just didn't fit, said Söder.

Nevertheless, Lanz continued.

Just praise is not Söder's thing.

A little smack is always part of it.

Markus Lanz then accepted the laudatory speech and honorary panther quite touched, enjoyed the feature film, which looked back on his career and commented, of course coquettishly and with his own tendency to complacency: "Basically, I can stop now." But he hopes that the honorary panther is not a camouflaged pension notice.

Rather tired smiles in the audience.

The “Blue Panther” award ceremony has been completely overhauled

The gala opened with the presentation of the honorary prize, which had one thing above all on its flag: to be more modern than before.

As reported, the event has been completely revamped.

Casual BMW World instead of the venerable Prince Regent Theater (which didn't necessarily do the atmosphere any good), and above all not only prizes for linear television, but also for productions from streaming providers and Internet formats.

This attitude was promptly reflected in the list of award winners: Both audience awards – namely for the most popular series and the most popular film – went to productions from Amazon Prime Video (“Die Discounter”) and competitor Netflix (“Army Of Thieves”).

Prizes for "The Discounters" and "Army of Thieves"

Soma Pysall was able to prevail as best actress – after all, against Lisa Maria Potthoff ("Herzogpark") and Luna Wedler (@ichbinsophiescholl).

Pysall wowed the judges in the series "Para - Wir sind King" (Warner TV series).

"She not only carries the story dramaturgically with her character, but above all with her grandiose acting performance," the statement said.

Peter Kurth won the men’s race and defeated Bruno Alexander (“The Rebel – from Leimen to Wimbledon”) and Florian Lukas (“The Wespe”) with his performance in “Ferdinand von Schirach – Faith” (RTL+ and Vox). through.

"Then it will still be a nice evening here in Munich," teased the "East and North German" (Kurth about Kurth).

Wigald Boning honored Olli Dittrich

As far as the good "old" TV entertainment is concerned, there is - streaming or not - a "public service face" that still and again and again inspires the viewers in the most excellent way: Olli Dittrich.

For the embodiment of the character Sandro Zahlemann in the mockumentary "I was Angela Merkel: The Zahlemann Protocol" (ARD), he received a Blue Panther - rightly so and from the hands of his friend Wigald Boning.

"Every detail of this parody is just right," was the verdict of the jury.

"Olli Dittrich describes the most absurd events in the most beautiful Saxon language and with a serious, factual narrative."

Joko Winterscheidt is also a master of modern TV entertainment.

whose ProSieben format "Who steals the show from me" also seemed worthy of the jury.

Matthias Schweighöfer held a humorous eulogy for the "greatest show idea in a long time" - that too, very true!

Winterscheidt was sincerely touched and said that before the show idea, for which he was now celebrated on stage, he almost no longer believed in his future on TV and almost gave up.

Glad he reconsidered.

Claus Kleber as laudator for three remarkable documentaries

A special moment of the gala was the presentation of the Panthers in the field of documentation.

Claus Kleber gave the laudatory speech for three remarkable films: "Charité intensive" (the actually very remarkable report about the work in the famous Berlin hospital during the pandemic), "Gegen Putin" (an impressive documentary about demonstrating women in Ukraine) and "Wirecard – the billion lie” (an enthralling research on the financial scandal).

Kleber, himself a passionate filmmaker, was particularly looking forward to his job as laudator, as he said in an interview with our newspaper: "Good documentaries are always important - and these three, which I am honored to honor today, are particularly great works, tools of truth.”
