Lenovo held its annual global innovation event, Tech World, where it showed its vision on the evolution of collaboration between users, spaces and devices and application possibilities in both the real world and the metaverse.
What attracted interest was above all a prototype of a rollable smartphone, with a screen capable of going from about 4 to 6.5 inches.
Designed to simplify multitasking, browsing and using technology on the go, the new rollable concept is compact, but does not sacrifice screen size, allowing content to be dynamically adapted to the device, while the display slides towards the internal base when a button is clicked.
A video released by Motorola, whose mobile brand is controlled by Lenovo, shows the extra part of the display coming out of the main case, rolling from the bottom edge.
There is no front camera visible, which may be hidden under the panel, as is the case on Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Fold 3.
Although Lenovo has not released precise information on the possible marketing of the smartphone, its operation already seems well oiled and ready to use.
The company also unveiled another prototype, this time a notebook with a screen that stretches.
Both devices are equipped with a flexible OLED panel, capable of rolling without damage or leaving creases, at least apparent.
