The last scheduled performance of the iconic singer-songwriter took place in 2000 • In June, you can see the 79-year-old perform her songs at the George Amphitheater in Washington

Singer Joni Mitchell will return to a full performance for the first time in 20 years.

During an interview given yesterday (Wednesday) by her good friend and professional partner Brandi Carly to the "Daily Show", Carly announced that Mitchell will perform a complete performance of her songs on June 10, 2023 at the George Asher Amphitheater in Washington.

Just last week, a rumor spread online about Mitchell's death, which will soon mark her 79th birthday.

These rumors were disproved in a short time.

Carly told host Trevor Noah that Mitchell approached her and brought up the possibility of having a show.

"She told me: 'I want to perform again'. Joni Mitchell is going to perform," she said, adding: "No one could purchase a ticket to a Joni Mitchell concert in 20 years."

Brandi also said that her friend has been holding private jam sessions (or - "Johnny Sessions", in her words) for years.

The understatement to show in public.

As mentioned, the musician's last scheduled appearance took place in 2000. In the time since Mitchell's appearance in public, she even partially retired from the world of music in 2015, as a result of a brain aneurysm she suffered.

The iconic singer-songwriter had to relearn how to perform basic motor actions and it was widely assumed that she would never be able to sing again in her life.

Earlier this year, Mitchell returned to the stage at the MusiCares event where she was presented with the "Music Personality of the Year" award.

So she joined the group to perform two of her songs - "The Circle Game" and "Big Yellow Taxi".

Then, last summer, the singer took the stage at the Newport Folk Festival for an unplanned breakout performance.

In this performance, Mitchell sang and played lead guitar, to the complete surprise of her fellow performers (including Carly, Winona Judd and the lead singer of the band Mumford & Sons - Marcus Mumford), who did not think she would join them for a whole performance.

Mitchell surprised everyone present and performed no less than 12 songs.

Next summer it will be a pre-planned performance.
