Jeffrey Dahmer celebrates mega success after season start on Netflix

The story of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer has been available on Netflix since September.

The true crime series was a complete success in the first week.

If you like to eat something with your series, you should think twice about this Netflix hit.

Subjects such as violence, alcoholism, necrophilia and cannibalism are not for the faint of heart, but seem to resonate with viewers around the world.

It is not without reason that the Netflix series "Dahmer - Monster: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer" is enjoying great success.

For three weeks, the series, which is based on true events, held the #1 spot in the world with over 701 million hours watched. 

From 1978 to 1991, Jeffrey Dahmer murdered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He grew up in a divided family.

He realized early on that he felt differently than his classmates.

He dissected deer accidents with his father in the garage.

After his parents divorced, Dahmer lived alone and began his first murder.

He lured his victims to his home, where he first drugged and sexually abused them before killing them and dissolving their body parts in acid. 

He put the bones in cupboards and sometimes even ate the meat so that he could always carry his victims with him.

He documented the murders in pictures he took before, during and after the murder and kept them in the bedside table.

After the arrest, Dahmer cooperated with the police, which is why his actions are so well documented in the series.

Evan Peters, known from "American Horror Story", embodies the serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.

During filming, the 35-year-old actor needed psychological care.

Portraying the serial killer presented him with a major challenge: "It was one of the hardest things I've had to do in my life," explained Peters.

The fact that serial killers arouse the interest of viewers has long been undeniable.

New documentaries or mini-series about the most famous killers in history appear regularly on Netflix.

But how is it that series like “Dahmer” are so successful?

Due to the reference to reality, viewers are unusually involved in the events.

The "Dahmer" pilot episode builds up such a strong tension within a few minutes that even die-hard horror fans get a queasy stomach.

Producer Ryan Murphy intentionally lengthens the scenes.

Adrenaline and thrills are plentiful in "Dahmer", which makes the series particularly appealing.

In the series, viewers get the life of the serial killer described in detail.

The long confession of the murderer makes the series a success and leaves no questions unanswered.
