Pablo Gavi of Barcelona is the Golden Boy 2022. The winner of the award established by Tuttosport, thanks to the idea of the journalist Massimo Franchi, for the best U.21 player protagonist in a European club was announced in the Basile room of the Villa Igiea hotel of Palermo.
The European Golden Boy Awards ceremony will be held on 7 November in Turin at Officine Grandi Riparazioni.
Gavi ascends to the throne of the 'best young player' after his partner in Blaugrana Pedri and in the roll of honor he follows Haaland, De Ligt, Mbappé, Sterling, Pogba, Isco, Messi, Aguero, Rooney and Fabregas.
The Golden Boy is awarded by a jury of 50 international journalists from the major sports magazines, who have nominated Fabio Miretti from Juventus as the best young Italian.
Other prizes will also be awarded on 7 November.
A jury of legends, composed from 2021 by Emilio Butragueno, Edwin Van Der Sar, Stephane Chapuisat, Hristo Stoichkov, Lothar Matthaus, Samuel Eto'o, Andriy Shevchenko, Pavel Nedved, Luca Toni, Juan Sebastian Veron, Lina Souloukou, Alessandro Costacurta, Manuel Rui Costa and Diana Langes Swarovski, awarded the Golden Player Man, Golden Player Woman, Best European President and Best European Manager.
The winners of the first two awards are the same as the Ballon d'Or, Karim Benzema of Real Madrid and Alexia Putellas of Barcelona.
The best president is Florentino Perez of Real, Paolo Maldini of Milan is the best manager.
Among the prizes that will be awarded there are also those awarded by Tuttosport: the Best European Player's Agent will go to the prosecutor Rafaela Pimenta,
Jule Brand the Golden Girl Absolute Best, Andriy Shevchenko the Golden Boy Career Award, Nicole Arcangeli the Best Italian Golden Girl.
And again the Targa Scirea for Fair Play to Giorgio Chiellini, while the Targa Pozzo will be awarded to Carlo Ancelotti and José Mourinho.
