Why is it so important to cultivate gentleness in our daily lives?


Celine Tran.

English psychologist Paul Gilbert, who has written extensively on compassion, described three emotional systems that regulate us.

The first circle is that of threat detection.

It helps us to protect ourselves from danger and to survive.

It is thanks to him that the human being is still there, but he is based on fear, stress, anger, disgust.

If this mode is overactivated, we drift towards anxiety-provoking ruminations, harmful to physical and mental health.

The second circle is the reward system: that of desire, excitement, pleasure.

It pushes us to discover, create, move, make plans, but can also lead to frustration and addiction.

We always want more.
