The ginger shot has been popular in Germany for several years.

Relevant products have now been tested.

As a result, the products are good.

However, not all are full of vitamins.

Frankfurt/Main – The throat is scratching.

Quickly a ginger shot - in the hope of averting the infection!

Many shots do well in the “eco test”.

But what surprised the testers: Some of them do not contain any vitamin C. You can have most of the ginger shots from the supermarket with a clear conscience.

This is shown by a study by the magazine "Öko-Test", which tested 20 ginger shots for their ingredients.

(Issue 11/2022)

Ginger shots: Not every shot is a vitamin bomb

The test winners were Live Fresh's “Ginger Sturm” and Rewe To Go's “Ginger Shot with Apple & Lemon” – rated “very good”.

Nine other products were rated “good”.

No product failed the test.

However, there were a few flaws that left the testers with a stale aftertaste, despite all the spiciness of the ginger.

In 13 products, "Öko-Test" found indications that the ginger had been stored for a long time or heavily processed.

And: by no means every ginger shot is a vitamin bomb.

"Öko-Test" was unable to detect any vitamin C in seven products - although ginger, lemon and apple were on the list of ingredients.

Ginger shots: Popular, but not cheap

The mixture of ginger and other ingredients such as apples, lemon juice or carrots as a short "energy boost" has become more and more popular in recent years.

They are considered to be stimulants or helpers of the immune system.

Especially in autumn and winter, when not only the corona virus but also the completely conventional cold frequently occurs again, more and more people are reaching for the ginger drink.

But: The price of the drink is not negligible.

For example, the Rewe To Go ginger shot costs 1.99 euros for 125 ml (as of 2021).
