Do an apprenticeship after school or start a degree?
Many study because they hope to earn more.
This is not always the case.
Even while they are still at school, the students have to ask themselves how they should continue professionally.
Are you planning an apprenticeship or is a degree the goal?
Many choose to study in the hope of earning more later with an academic degree.
However, that is not to say that this will actually be the case.
You will be well paid in the following apprenticeships.
With some apprenticeships you will later earn more than with a degree.

Current results from the
Institute for Labor Market and Occupational Research (IAB)
show that studying does not necessarily guarantee the highest wages.
The results of the survey show, for example, that a master craftsman in logistics earns more than someone who has completed a degree in this field.
Training + qualification (e.g. master craftsman) | studies | |
---|---|---|
transport and logistics professions | 2,207 euros | 2,116 euros |

The study shows that there are clear differences within the areas.
Accordingly, people in the IT sector can sometimes receive more money without a degree than people with a degree in the tourism industry.
On average, graduates achieve higher living wages, but not in all areas.
Above all in IT professions or in the fields of mathematics, physics and chemistry, a higher salary can be achieved than that of an average academic, as reported by the
Business
Insider portal .

Salary without studying: Skills shortage could have a positive effect on salaries
The shortage of skilled workers will become more explosive in the future, partly due to demographic change.
This could also affect salaries and earning potential.
IAB
reports on its own website: "Due to the increasing shortage of skilled workers - at least in certain occupational groups - a disproportionate increase in the remuneration of skilled workers and specialists can be expected in the next few years compared to the increase in wages overall."
