The scenario:

Last Exit Exorcism Tourism.

Climate change has done a great job in Thalsrode: there is no snow in winter and floods in summer.

So the residents of the specialist workshop at the foot of the Brocken have reconsidered.

For Halloween they are now organizing a witch's party including a pyre show;

the tourists come from far away.

The morning after the event, a Japanese couple discovers a real woman's body in the ashes.

Inspector Brasch (Claudia Michelsen) arrives from Magdeburg – and finds a place where a special kind of battle between the sexes is raging: the women are experimenting with shamanic customs in »Frauenheil« courses, while the men are hoarding instruments of torture in the attic.

Was the »witch burning« a kind of inquisitorial act?

The highlight:

Tehran in Thalsrode?

Iran is far away, but the "police call" tells in a very unique way how a declining male regime behaves against rebellious women.

Skull screws, Spanish boots - all sorts of historical torture paraphernalia are integrated into the plot.

Unfortunately, the thriller doesn't always keep the balance of sarcasm and seriousness that the material would have needed.

He still has a few Halloween moments with a deeper meaning ready.

The picture:

of the devil.

In one scene, the inspector walks through Thalrode with a pastor.

The fictional half-timbered town, for which the real town of Wernigerode provided the backdrop, is full of signs and writing.

Satanic symbols and crossed arrows are emblazoned everywhere.

The pastor explains to the astonished investigator: »Repellent magic!

They're fighting."

The dialogue:

Brasch is visited by her superior (Felix Vörtler) at the scene of the crime.

Inspector: "The white old man is afraid."

Inspector: "And that's enough to get you murdered here?"

This is the big witch show!”

Inspector: I don't believe in witches, but I believe in someone who believes in witches.

This place has a strange energy.«

The music:

Cellos in the lowest register, violins in the highest.

Here the strings are sawn and scratched, which is what the arsenal of horror strings has in store.

The review:

6 out of 10 points.

In this Halloween "police call" horror comes in homeopathic doses: open-air theater performance with shamanic interludes and mild social reflection.
