(ANSA) - ROME, OCTOBER 30 - To reduce energy consumption, the priority of Italians is to index energy prices according to the level of consumption per family (71%).
They are also in favor of heavily taxing highly polluting sources of energy consumption such as SUVs and air transport (66%).
This is what emerges from the latest report on the climate carried out by the Bei.
If the internal temperature of the house were to be lowered in the next winter months, - explains the Bei - 32% of the interviewees would accept to reduce it to 19ºC, (percentage 15 points lower than the French one, but 5 points higher than the German one, according to which 47% of French and 27% of Germans would agree to do so).
At the same time, however, 25% of Italians say they cannot afford to heat their home adequately.
Three quarters of Italians (77%) say that the war in Ukraine and its consequences on the price of energy, oil and gas should help to stimulate the green transition more decisively (+11 points compared to 66% of the European average).
When asked to list energy priorities in order of importance, Italians replied that they expected the government to prioritize the development of renewable energy (55%) before focusing on diversifying energy supplies to avoid excessive dependence on a single supplier (29%).
