According to data from the Higher Electoral Tribunal, with 30% of the total sections scrutinized, the right-wing candidate shows up with 51.06% of the valid votes, against 48.94% of the left-wing leader, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Pt ).



Ballots closed in Brazil, the counting begins for the ballot that sees the left-wing leader Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (Pt) in a race against the right-wing president, Jair Bolsonaro, for the chair of Palazzo Planalto.

This is one of the most polarized elections in the history of the South American giant, which returns the photo of a split country.

Lula, associated with the number 13 in the electronic ballot boxes, appears in the lead in the latest poll published last night by Datafolha.

Counting only valid voting intentions, the member of the PT running for his third term has 52%, while Bolsonaro (number 22), in search of reconfirmation, 48%.

In the first round Lula had obtained 48.43% of the votes (57.259.504) against 43.2% of the PL candidate (51.072.345), conquering 14 states, against Bolsonaro's 13.



At 17 o'clock local (21 Italian) the operations throughout the country ended, as per the order of the Higher Electoral Court (TSE).

Over 156 million citizens had the right to vote, called to choose, in addition to the President of the Republic, also the 12 governors not elected in the first round.
