At least eight people were injured at a Halloween party in a Czech disco on Sunday night, five of them seriously.
Two young people were still in mortal danger on Sunday morning, as a spokesman for the rescue services told the CTK news agency.
All of the injured were between 15 and 20 years old.
According to eyewitness reports, there was a crowd on a stairway to the discotheque in Slušovice in East Moravia.
Some eyewitnesses reported bumping into each other.
According to police, the stairs were crowded with young people trying to get inside.
Due to the pressure of those pushing behind, those in front could no longer retreat, which is why panic broke out.
Young people who were trapped lost consciousness.
Panic also triggered the tragedy in the South Korean capital Seoul over the weekend.
More than 150 people were killed there and many more injured.
Around 100,000 mostly young people had gathered on Saturday evening for the first Halloween celebrations since the beginning of the corona pandemic in 2020 in the narrow streets of the Itaewon nightlife district before the accident took its course.
