(ANSA) - TEHRAN, OCTOBER 30 - Over 300 Iranian journalists and photo reporters denounced, in a statement, the mass arrest of journalists during the ongoing protests in Iran against the establishment, triggered by the death of Mahsa Amini unattended on charges not having worn the veil correctly.
And they launched an appeal for the release of those still inmates.
"There are currently over 20 journalists in prison, mostly from Tehran, and several others have been summoned to the prosecutor's office," said the statement cited by the Iranian media reformists, adding that those arrested were interrogated and sentenced without trial and deprived ;; of their rights , including access to their lawyers.
The Tehran Association of Journalists unanimously defined the arrests as "illegal and contrary to press freedom" and deplored the "police approach" towards information.
