Watch the dramatic documentation: the collapse of a building in the heart of the city of Bnei Brak next to pedestrians (social networks)
Failure in Bnei Brak:
The Dovek cigarette factory building located in the heart of the city of Bnei Brak collapsed this morning (Sunday) in front of passers-by - the roof of the building landed on a nearby bus stop and caused its demolition.
This is a building undergoing controlled demolition in order to build residential buildings in the future, despite this the demolition operations were carried out without evacuating the residents from the area as required and the building collapsed in front of pedestrians passing by - and fortunately the damage caused was only to property.
In the documentation posted on social networks, pedestrians on the parallel sidewalk are seen watching the building's demolition, while at the same time vehicles continue to drive on the street next to the destroyed bus station.
The Israel Police is checking whether to open an investigation following the omission.
"The works will only resume after public peace is guaranteed"
The municipality of Bnei Brak stated:
"This is about the demolition work of the mythical "Dovek" complex, which has been used as a commercial center in recent years. The work is being carried out by the company 'Tzimat Ha'ir', which received a permit for this purpose. Apparently, the work is not being carried out in accordance with safety procedures and at risk to the safety of the public and passers-by.
Furthermore, the municipality stated:
"The city engineer, the architect Eran Wexler, together with the team of the construction supervision department, went to the site and stopped the execution of the works until the incident was clarified.
The works will be resumed only after public peace is guaranteed."
