Ryan Murphy, who created Netflix's hit series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which still resonates and is considered controversial, is responding to criticism that the project glorifies the image of the notorious serial killer

Creator Ryan Murphy, whose latest and controversial production "Dahmer - Monster: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer" breaks viewership records on Netflix, addresses the criticism leveled at him by some of the families of the victims of the infamous serial killer.

The mother of a victim named Tony Hughes, for example, complains that the series does not present the things as they happened in reality, saying that she "doesn't understand how they can use our names and release such things", while Rita Isabel, the sister of the victim Errol Lindsay, blamed Murphy And Netflix trying to "make a buck on this tragedy".

On the other hand, Murphy claims that despite accusations of glorification of the killer and complaints that he and his people avoided contacting the families of the victims to consult with them during the production and before the launch of the series - the truth, according to him, is completely the opposite.

According to Murphy, the production team spent more than three and a half years investigating Dahmer's murders, and he also emphasizes that although the investigators tried to contact family members and friends of 20 of the victims to hear their testimony and include them in the creative process, "none of them responded to our requests, And so we relied on our wonderful investigators, who I don't even know how they found some of the materials. They worked day and night in an effort to uncover the true stories of these people."

At the same time, it seems that Murphy is still trying to extend an olive branch to the families, offering to establish a memorial site for Dahmer's victims.

"We will do everything we can to make it happen, and I would even be happy to pay for it out of my own pocket," concluded the creator.

Ten episodes of "Dahmer - Monster: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer" are now available to watch on Netflix.
