Rains and thunderstorms arrive over Italy, starting from the northern regions and subsequently spreading over the rest of the country.
Based on the available forecasts, the
Civil Protection Department
has issued a weather alert involving
18 regions
: for Lombardy and Friuli Venezia Giulia the alert is orange, for all the others it is yellow.
Starting from Thursday evening, the notice foresees widespread rainfall - which locally may also be very intense and accompanied by hail, lightning and strong gusts of wind - on Piedmont, Liguria, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Tuscany.
From Friday morning the phenomena will affect Campania, Basilicata and Calabria, especially on the Tyrrhenian slopes.
Strong to stormy winds are also expected on Liguria, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Marche, with storm surges along the exposed coasts.
On the basis of the expected phenomena, the Department therefore assessed an orange alert on some sectors of Lombardy and Friuli Venezia Giulia and a yellow alert in the Autonomous Province of Trento, in Liguria, Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio, Campania, Basilicata, Puglia and on sectors of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lombardy, Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Abruzzo, Molise, Calabria and Sicily.
