In the event of an emergency, it is good to have recipes on hand that consist solely of ingredients that can be kept for a long time – for example from tin cans.

Everyone knows Chili con Carne (English: Chili with meat), less well known but no less delicious is the vegetarian version Chili sin Carne (without meat).

The special thing about the recipe for Chili sin Carne is that you can only prepare it with ingredients that have a long shelf life - so it is ideal for crisis prevention.

So if you already have or want to stock up on groceries in case of an emergency, you can try the tinned chilli sin carne right away.

Chili also tastes wonderful without meat and with canned ingredients.

  • Sweat the tomato paste and the vegetable broth in a pan, then add the canned tomatoes and let everything boil briefly.

  • Drain the corn and add it to the pan along with the kidney beans and lentils.

Let the chili sin carne simmer for about 20 minutes.

Covering the pan with a lid will save you energy and allow you to heat the dish over medium-high heat.
