A 29-year-old woman and a six-year-old girl.

They are the last two victims of sexist violence in Spain.

This past Sunday morning, a 38-year-old man, the woman's partner and the girl's father, murdered both of them in a flat on Avenida Olímpica, in Móstoles (Madrid).

He spent the whole day on that floor, with her corpses, until that night her mother called from Bulgaria, where they are both from.

It was then that he confessed what he had done and it was she who notified the police, according to sources close to the investigation.

When the 112 troops arrived at the house, they could only confirm the death of the minor and her mother and stabilize the aggressor, who had self-harmed and had injuries to the chest, neck and legs.

Although at first they seemed serious and there was talk of a suicide attempt, his life was never in danger.

Those same sources assure that it will not take long for him to leave the Puerta de Hierro Hospital, where he was transferred, and go to court.

“The investigations continue and the woman's relatives are being contacted, who will arrive in Madrid today.

But the case is clear, she is a victim of gender violence, ”said the Government delegate, Mercedes González, on Monday morning.

She is the 37th fatality

so far this year, 1,167 since the official statistics began in 2003. As in most of these murders, there are no previous complaints.

The Móstoles City Council declared this Monday three days of official mourning and called two concentrations.

The first was at 12:00, and around a hundred people observed five minutes of silence in the square in front of the Consistory.

Under the number 20 of the Olímpica avenue of Móstoles, where the events occurred, dozens of neighbors gathered at 6:00 p.m.

“We express our strongest condemnation and revulsion for the sexist murder that has cost the lives of two of our neighbors.

So that this does not happen again, even if it is difficult, "said Ricardo Zamora, the president of the neighborhood association.

The concentration, convened by the El Soto and Peña El Soto Neighborhood Association, was attended by the mayor of the town, Noelia Posse, along with many women and men from the neighborhood.

The square of the urbanization was shyly dyed purple jackets, coats and scarves.

Also outrage.

"It's consternation and anger," said one of them.

"Rage!

Above all rage ”, exclaimed another.

“We are fed up that this continues to happen and also of those who deny that sexist violence and vicarious [gender] violence exist,” protested two other women.

The minute of silence was followed by applause almost as long as the first.

"It always affects when you find out about a case of sexist violence, but discovering that it has happened in your neighborhood, nearby, is much more overwhelming," lamented Zamora, who encouraged neighbors to go to neighborhood associations if they have a problem.

“We are always open to help,” he added.

Much of the common suffering has the girl in mind.

Alejandro González, president of the neighborhood rock, wondered: "How are they going to explain at school that her classmate is not here because they have killed her?"

A little later, at 7:30 p.m., some 750 Mostoleans gathered in the town hall square to condemn the murder.

Around a purple bow resting on the ground and covered with candles, neighbors and representatives maintained several minutes of silence.

The final applause was joined by the cry of a man: "It's sexist violence, not domestic violence."

The government delegate in the Community of Madrid, González, present at the event, wanted to thank the city council and the neighbors for the meeting to show their rejection of the murder.

"We want to fit the pieces because, although according to their environment the couple maintained a normal coexistence, it is very rare that an act like this occurs so abruptly.

There is something behind it and his testimonial will be of great importance”, she assured.

Late this Monday afternoon, the accused was still admitted and, as confirmed by the delegate, he would go to court in the next few hours to begin to clarify what happened.

The girl, her daughter, is the second victim of vicarious gender violence in 2022, 48 since data began to be officially recorded, in 2013. In Spain, this violence leaves an average of between four and five minors murdered at year at the hands of their parents.

The first this year was that of Jordi, an 11-year-old boy who was stabbed 12 times by his father.

It happened in Sueca, in Valencia, at the beginning of April of this year.

The 47-year-old man had a restraining order from his ex-partner after a conviction for ill-treatment;

however, they had shared custody due to the lack of communication between the violence against women court and the family court.

The first decreed the restraining order in August 2021 and did not set visits for the father;

and the second, which processed the divorce, ratified joint custody a month later by mutual agreement.

He was unaware of the existence of the conviction for ill-treatment;

something that is not uncommon to happen.

It was that murder, that of Jordi, that triggered the Inspection Service of the General Council of the Judiciary to prepare a report that served the president of the Observatory against Domestic and Gender Violence of that body, Ángeles Carmona, to ask the permanent commission of the governing body of the judges that measures be established for effective coordination between the courts.

"Establish a stable communication channel that allows the bodies with competence in family matters to have knowledge and access to the resolutions issued by the courts of violence against women when the alleged aggressor and victim are in turn undergoing separation procedures," he reported. the CGPJ in a statement.

Already divorced were Olivia's parents, Eugenio García and Noemí Martínez, the minor murdered at her hands, by Martínez, on the morning of Monday, October 31, in the Asturian city of Gijón.

The murder of that six-year-old girl has been raising the debate again for a week around vicarious violence, which occurs when the person who attacks turns someone - usually children, relatives or close people - into an instrument to harm another person.

Anyone, men and women, can perpetrate this violence, but the vicariousness of gender can only be framed within sexist violence, which responds to the use that parents make of minors to harm mothers;

sometimes with prior warnings such as "I'm going to take away what you want most" or "I'm going to hit you where it hurts the most".

The 016 telephone number attends to victims of gender-based violence and their families or surroundings 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

The number is not recorded on the phone bill, but the call must be deleted from the device.

It can also be contacted through the email
