The recipe for our hearty savoy cabbage stew gives you warmth for the cold days.

Not from the pan, but stew

The all-rounder savoy cabbage is in season again from August to November.

It provides us with many nutrients that we can use especially during the winter.

Vitamin C

,

vitamin B6

,

folic acid and minerals

such as

potassium

, as well as small doses of

calcium

and

magnesium

are found in the green leaves.

A real superfood!

With carrots, Mettwurst and Kassler, the savoy cabbage in this stew is as tasty and hearty as grandma's.

And its blaze of color will get us safely through the gray winter.

That's how it's done:

You need these ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp cooking oil

  • 70 g onions, diced

  • 200 g carrots, cut into large pieces

  • 300 g potatoes, sliced

  • 400 g savoy cabbage, roughly chopped

  • 150 g Mettwurst, sliced

  • 250 g Kassler, diced

  • 0.5 tsp pepper

  • 1 liter vegetable broth

  • 1 bay leaf

  • Crème fraîche (to taste)

The preparation is so easy:

  • Heat the oil and fry the onions, carrots, potatoes, savoy cabbage, Mettwurst and Kassler together.

  • Season with pepper and then deglaze with vegetable broth.

  • Add bay leaf and simmer, stirring occasionally.

  • Cover with a lid and continue to simmer until the vegetables are cooked but still al dente.

  • Top with crème fraîche and serve.

  • Hit the ground running and feel the warmth from within.
