The body of a 20-day-old newborn from the Ivory Coast was found on a rescue boat off the coast of Lampedusa in the group of migrants traveling to Italy.

.

On the boat, rescue off the coast of Lampedusa, also two burned people.

The doctors, present at the Favarolo pier during the disembarkation of the migrants, carried out an inspection on the body of the newborn and reported that the death corresponds to what was declared by the mother at the time of the rescue:

the child suffered from respiratory problems

.

The child

's 'crossing of hope'

had begun in Mahres in Tunisia.

The newborn, in fact, who left with his 19-year-old mother (while his father remained in Tunisia), had suffered from respiratory problems and the parents hoped to arrive in Italy to be able to have him treated.

The body of the child, already during the night, was subjected to a cadaveric inspection and the doctor did not find any external signs of violence,

believing that the death occurred from hypothermia

due to the fragile conditions of the newborn.

The Public Prosecutor of Agrigento, with its acting Salvatore Vella, has already ordered the authorization for the burial of the body.

The baby's mother was instead transferred, as well as the traveling companions, to the hotspot in the Imbriacola district.

The mayor of Lampedusa and Linosa, Filippo Mannino

, writes to Prime Minister Meloni and to the Minister of the Interior Piantedosi to ask for an urgent meeting: "I am constantly receiving calls from the police to inform me that there are corpses. to attend a war bulletin and what worries me is that it is becoming a daily routine, in the indifference of Europe

. insufficient

human, instrumental and financial resources ".

Meanwhile, the Ocean Viking ship is sailing northwards near the eastern coasts of Corsica

, after having left two days ago from the border of the Italian territorial waters off the coast of Sicily.

There are 234 migrants on board.

The first rescue operation of the Sos Mediterranee ship dates back to 20 days ago.

The NGO urged France to grant it a port, defining the situation on board as critical, with the guests exasperated by the long wait for a solution.

Even the port of Bastia

, Corsica, "is preparing" for a possible landing of the Ocean Viking, even if at the moment no green light has arrived

from the French authorities: this is what radio France Info reports, according to which the city of Bastia, in the north of Corsica, it is "preparing to welcome it even if the cities of Marseille and Toulon remain privileged".
