For those who live alone, or alone, it is not always convenient to go shopping.

The portions at the supermarket are often for two people, or family size, and regulating the quantities of ingredients can reveal pitfalls and possible waste of product and food.

Reconciling savings and cooking for single people is therefore not always child's play.

How can you organize yourself better?

On the occasion of the World Single Day, the Day of singles on November 11, Deliveroo asked the tiktoker Viola Leporatti aka @ViolainTheSky.

The Tuscan cook, digital creator and passionate about cooking in an anti-waste key, has drawn up

a handbook to organize the shopping in the kitchen,

in an intelligent and wasteful way.

Viola has in fact developed useful tips to take into consideration in order to choose the right foods and store them at their best, manage the pantry, optimize products that are about to expire and reuse leftovers in the most effective way.

Here are the 10 tips to better manage your shopping in the kitchen.

- Pay particular attention to quantity and weight for pre-packaged products, choosing the ones that best suit your needs.

You will avoid waste and be able to be more efficient.

- Green light for frozen products.

It will be possible to use them a little at a time by taking from the package and defrosting only the quantity you need such as, for example, peas, mushrooms or mixed vegetables in bags and shellfish.

- Freeze all those preparations that cannot be cooked directly at home, in small quantities, such as meat sauce, sauces, meat stews and soups.

However, remember to write the storage date on the bag and consume the product up to a maximum of 4 months later (depending on the food).

- Even leftover bread can be cut entirely when it is still fresh and placed in slices in the freezer.

Just take them out 30 minutes earlier or defrost them quickly in a toaster.

- Purchase in large quantities only if you intend to make canned preparations such as tomato sauce, dried mushrooms, pickled aubergines or pickled cucumbers.

- In the latter case, use small jars in order to easily consume all the product in a few times.

For example, to make a fantastic giardiniera, just choose the vegetables you prefer (eg: cauliflower, carrots, peppers, onions) and, after having cut them into small pieces, blanch them in equal doses of water and vinegar.

Once drained and dried, place them in the jar, previously sterilized, with flavors of your choice, such as peppercorns.

Pour extra virgin olive oil until the jar is full and top it up after a few hours.

For a long storage in the pantry, arrange them in a saucepan, contrasting them with tea towels and covering them with cold water.

When it comes to a boil, 10/15 minutes will suffice.

Once cooled they will be ready for yours.

- If you have plain yogurt that is about to expire, you can use it to marinate chicken or turkey nuggets.

With the addition of spices to taste, just leave it in the refrigerator for at least an hour and, after removing the excess marinade, cook it in a pan with a drizzle of oil.

It will be juicy and very tasty!

_ Do not throw away the leftovers!

Rather, place them in airtight containers and then in the fridge in order to use them in a subsequent meal, perhaps changing their consistency.

For example, leftover boiled or sautéed zucchini, once blended, become a healthy and tasty condiment for pasta, rice or other cereals.

- For desserts, there are not only large and imposing cakes.

Prefer smaller and easily manageable formats such as muffins and pastries;

or, even better, biscuits, which are easier to keep.

And when you don't have to fear anyone's judgment ... go ahead for experimentation!

Especially with the use of spices and aromatic herbs to discover new flavors and combinations
