Stop looking, today it's hot dog tarte flambée!
I love good fun facts.
And since the US is absolutely crazy about hot dogs, here are some special facts you can surprise people with at the next party.
Eating contests are at least as popular as the hot dog in the USA.
Californian Joey Chestnut is a true legend and has been the reigning world champion hot dog eating contest for 15 years.
He ate a
whopping
76 hot dogs in
10 minutes
, setting the world record in hot dog eating contests that he has never been able to break.
Also good to know: According to the official guide for eating a hot dog (English: Hot Dog Etiquette - Everyday guidance for eating America's most sacred food), it is an absolute
no-go
after turning 18 to top the hot dog with
ketchup
.
Nevertheless,
52 percent
of the Americans surveyed stated that they
refine their hot dog
with ketchup .
According to this guide, it should
n't take more than five bites
to finish a hot dog.
But let's be honest, aren't five bites not enough for you?
We do too, and that's why the most important hot dog ingredients for our recipe are exceptionally on the tarte flambée.
That's how it's done:
You need these ingredients:
Cream:
200 g crème fraîche
1 tsp salt
0.5 tsp pepper
Tarte:
1 pack (à 260 g) Tarte flambée dough on the refrigerated shelf
150 g gratin cheese
150 g Vienna sausages
gherkins
Ketchup
Mustard
roasted onions
The preparation is so easy:
Season the crème fraîche with salt and pepper and then stir.
Roll out the Flammkuchen dough and spread the crème fraîche on it.
Sprinkle with the gratin cheese and top with the Wiener sausages.
Bake according to the instructions on the package for 20 minutes.
Distribute cucumber slices, ketchup, mustard and fried onions on the flammkuchen according to your own taste.
Zack - done!
