Okay Kaya

This American-Norwegian began a modeling career, which she still pursues today, and appeared in the cinema in the film

Thelma

, by Joachim trier, in 2017. But it is through music that she tirelessly explores its flaws, digs and heals its wounds in a folk that is at once delicate, wobbly and refined.

Note on her new album,

SAP

 : a "reverse" version of

Jolene

, the legendary hit by Dolly Parton, who begged her rival not to take her man away from her.

In

Jolene from her own perspective

, in duet with New Yorker Zannie, it is “the other woman”, via Okay Kaya, who speaks.

And above all offers him that they leave the bastard together.

To listen to on Sunday November 20, at the Boule Noire.

Four girls, two boys, universes ranging from the warm Rn'b of the nineties to rap and jazz: this young New York collective brings a breath of light to pop.

Launched by a radiant first single, Sunrise, MICHELLE (who sticks to her capital letters) has already released two albums, including the beautiful

After Diner We Talk Dreams

, this year.

On November 14 after dinner, it is at the Café de la Danse that we will listen to them.

First of all, it's his voice that we can't remain indifferent to: serious and almost masculine, as if coming from another time.

Nourished by the dark moods of Nick Cave, Tim Buckley or Nirvana, it is indeed the crumbling rock of the nineties that she summons in her songs, energized by the energy of her 20s.

His first album,

Slugeye

, was released in 2022. Nostalgic for grunge, see you at Les Disquaires on November 19.

Arooj Aftab

Arooj Aftab Blythe Thomas

She was one of the first artists to broadcast her music in Pakistan, her native country, when she was only 20 years old.

After settling in the United States, Arooj Aftab mixed Urdu poetry with jazz and electronic music.

His latest album,

Vulture Prince

, released in 2021, earned him two Grammy nominations.

The Sainte-Eustache church, which welcomes him on November 21, is a perfect setting for his concerts imbued with spirituality and transcendence.

Dua Saleh

You may have seen her in season 3 of

Sex Education

, where she played Cal Bowman, a non-binary student, campaigner for wearing a gender-neutral uniform in English high school.

But the 27-year-old Sudanese-American artist is also a musician and poet, author of three EPs, the last of which,

Crossover

, was released in 2021. Alternately flowing or scathing, her flow interferes between sinuous groove beats or those of a techno blurred by the smoke of a mysterious club.

To discover at the Café de la danse, on November 19th.
