Tennis: Cirio, the return is 10 times the public investment

"It is essential to support events like these through public resources and they are commensurate with the economic return. A study by the Chamber of Commerce has established that the return on investment is worth 10 times more than the initial public investment".

This was stated by the president of the Piedmont Region, Alberto Cirio, at the 'Great tennis in Turin' event, promoted by Intesa Sanpaolo and the newspaper 'Il Foglio', which was held this morning at the Intesa Sanpaolo skyscraper in Turin, in about the Nitto ATP Finals.

Three panels, moderated by 'Il Foglio' journalist Umberto Zapelloni, which featured representatives of the institutions, sponsors and sports reporters.

A conference followed in streaming by about 11,000 people.

"There are Regions - added Cirio - that advertise themselves as a product. Instead, we use events to make ourselves known. The Atp enters all homes around the world and in doing so invites people to come to our Piedmont: it is a vehicle that works and we are getting better and better."

And this is how Turin became the home of tennis for the second year, an event that made the city sport-friendly, with spectators arriving from all over the world to see the eight most famous tennis players at an international level play, but also with some tourist sights of the Savoyard capital.

In addition to the competitive spirit of the tournament, which is being talked about every day this week, we need to understand what repercussions an international event of this magnitude can have on the city, the territory and the Region.

"Hosting this event is worth a lot for Turin - highlighted Domenico Carretta, Turin Sport councilor - and we want to maximize this opportunity, because the city must enhance itself through the Atp".

When asked whether it is better to host the Olympics or the ATP, Carretta has no doubts: "They are two important, enormous, different challenges. With the ATP there is the possibility of correcting oneself, because they last several years. Turin is not London, it is not Paris and it's not Rome - he concludes - but we have studied, learned and we are having important returns".
